Mr. Langeler has worked in the Hospitality space since 1991, and was brought on board in 2013 to build out the entire Human Resources and Benefits platform for SMASHOTELS. His main role today is to ensure our recruitment pipeline is always filled with quality talent, and that our culture is alive and well throughout the organization.

Prior to joining SMASHotels, Mr. Langeler worked with the Four Seasons Hotel group at their Chicago location, managing all Human Resource functions at the prestigious 345-room property. During his tenure, the hotel achieved the coveted number one position on Trip Advisor Chicago, as well as attained the acclaimed AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star ratings. Four Seasons Chicago was also placed on Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List and is consistently ranked as one of the top city hotels in the world. Mitch was also heavily involved with the successful launch of Allium, the hotel’s successful farm to table concept. With his passion for mentoring and training, he developed two Directors of Human Resources for the company and a Regional Director of Human Resources.

Before joining the Four Seasons in 2006, Mitch served as the Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises in Chicago. In this corporate role he was responsible for over 3500 employees in nine states and British Columbia. In his almost eight years with the company, he implemented several unique employee benefits, including a successful financial assistance program designed to help employees who were facing catastrophic life events. The fund grew to over $50,000 in its second year. He played a pivotal role in having LEYE named to Chicago Magazine’s Top Employers list, which highlighted the company’s unique culture, benefits, and impressive employee retention.

Originally from Elmhurst, Illinois, Mitch graduated with a degree in Communications from Elmhurst College.

Mitch resides in Lincoln Square with his wife and 2 sons.
